Armor is appropriate for a modern Spartan. The Spartans OmegaTM AR500 Body Armor is made of 14″ thick lab-certified AR500 OmegaTM Armor ballistic-grade steel and is offered as a pair of plates. But the Spartan Omega AR500 plates offer the operator Level III protection in compliance with NIJ0101.06 standards and come in three sizes (8″ x10″, 10 “x12”, and 11 “x14”. Our SpartanTM OmegaTM AR500 body armor has undergone independent testing and verification by an independent NIJ-accredited laboratory, much like all other body armor sold by ar500 spartan armor.

For added peace of mind, every armor plate sold by spartan ar500 is serialized, allowing it to be easily traced back to the original steel plate from which it was cut should there be any doubt about its ballistic properties. Refrain from settling for substandard, ineffective, low-quality steel armor – your life may count on it.

Due to popular demand, we have added a “base coat” option solely for our ar500 spartan armor products. But the base coat option has a skinny layer of our chip mitigation coating to enhance the board’s aesthetics and provide corrosion resistance. This coating has minimal, if any, fragmentation mitigation capabilities.

Laser Cut to Protect Ballistic Integrity

All steel-core body armor is cut and formed after the steel has developed its internal ballistic qualities. AR500 spartan armor only uses laser cutting to safeguard the ballistic integrity of each spartan ar500 we manufacture. In contrast, other steel body armor manufacturers frequently use plasma torch cutting that exposes a large portion of the steel plate to excessive heat (25,000 C / 45,000 F). Grinding is also required after plasma cutting to smooth off the edges, which generates more heat and could make you tired.
